Paul Weber (artist)

Gottlieb Daniel Paul Weber (19 January 1823-12 October 1916) was a German artist.
He was born in Darmstadt. He studied art in Frankfurt from 1844 to 1848. He completed his studies with Josephus Laurentius Dyckmans in Antwerp.〔Horst Ludwig, 'Münchner Maler im 19. Jahrhundert: Bd. Saffer-Zwengauer',
Bruckmann, 1983, p. 341 〕 In 1848 he moved to the United States, settling in Philadelphia. In 1858 he went to Darmstadt, where he was appointed court painter. Among his works located in the United States are “A Scene in the Catskills,” in the Corcoran Gallery, Washington (1858); “Morning,” in the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts; and “Lake Chiemsee, in the Bavarian Highlands.” He died in Munich.
